Nina Kupczyk comes from a Bremen artist family, the successor to the composer Henryk Wieniawski.
She began her stage career at the age of 8 in numerous roles and training
to become a dancer at the Bremer Theater am Goetheplatz with Johann Kresnik and Reinhild Hoffmann.
At the same time she received violin lessons from her father Franz-Josef Kupczyk (+ 2012),
the first concertmaster of the Bremen Philharmonic State Orchestra for decades,
the Bayreuth Festival and professor of violin in Bremen and Tokyo.

After graduating from high school, Nina Kupczyk first studied acting, then
multimedia composition and music theater directing at the Hamburg Theater Academy (diploma with distinction) as well
Psychology, cultural psychology, psychoanalysis, neurocognition and forensics at the University of Bremen (diploma).

She took directing master courses with Peter Konwitschny, Calixto Bieito, Peter Michael Hamel, Andreas Kriegenburg,
observed and assisted Peter Konwitschny, Andreas Homoki, Günter Krämer, Werner Schroeter and was
Scholarship holder of the Bayreuth Festival and the international forum of the Berlin Theatertreffen.

Since 1995 she has published various texts in magazines and anthologies. (Federwelt, Worthandelverlag, S. Fischer-Verlag, Athena-Verlag).
Her texts were broadcast and recorded by various radio stations (Nordwestradio, Deutschlandfunk).
In 2000 she was invited to Bookexpo Chicago with her novel “The Teacher and the Prodigy.”

In 2009, based on her text, she directed her opera art film “The Child Mozart” in cooperation with Studio Hamburg
and received the rating “valuable” from the Wiesbaden film rating agency.

Since 2014 she has been designing, writing and directing new musical theater formats for concert halls.
There were premieres for the Luxembourg Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic,
for the Lucerne Festival, for the Festspielhaus St. Pölten, the Konzerthaus Vienna and for the Musikverein Wien.
Nina Kupczyk directed Viktor Ullman’s „The Emperor of Atlantis“ and „Vanitas“ by Salvatore Sciarrino at the Hamburg State Opera,
Mozart’s „Cosi fan tutte“ and a remake of Puccini’s „Butterfly“ at the Opernloft Hamburg,
the German premiere of Lorenzo Ferrero’s „la filglia del Mago“ for the theater festival „Feuertaufe“ at the Theater Kiel,
the own premiere of “The Child Mozart” at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg,
Dvorak’s „Rusalka“ at the Hagen Theater, Mozart’s „Don Giovanni“ at the Halle Opera, Donizetti’s „Don Pasquale“ at the Görlitz Theater,
Stravinsky’s „Renard“ as a modern, political fable with the Berlin Philharmonic
conducted by the Ukrainian Oksana Lyniv with Russian and Ukrainian singers.
She staged the premiere of her piece “Amadeus Superstar” at the New Theater in Halle.
Tchaikovsky’s „Francesca di Rimini“ with the Berlin Philharmonic, this time under the direction of Kirill Petrenko.

In 2024/25 she will stage Udo Zimmermann’s “White Rose” at the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg.

She is co-founder of Transform23 and lives in Berlin.
